It’s become obvious that small business owners who don’t have an Internet presence are at a serious disadvantage, and are losing more ground every day to their competitors.
But where to start? Many small business owners want to get online but the idea of it becomes overwhelming. One of the things many entrepreneurs are concerned about is the cost.
Having a professional website created can be expensive, as can the online marketing needed to promote the site. Fortunately with a little work, there are some great low budget solutions for small businesses.
How to get online?
To get online, our Website Builder can assist you in building your own website, tailored to your needs.
Web space can be pricey or fairly cheap. There are some sites that offer free hosting, but those sites usually force you to include banners or pop-up ads on your site. If you want to be taken seriously, you definitely do not want to host your business on a free hosting site. TPP Internet can provide you with Web Hosting from as little as $199 per year.
The Website is live – but how do I reach my customers?
One very simple way of marketing your small business is to include your website address in your signature in emails. While this doesn’t market directly to your targeted audience, it does make people aware of your website.
In addition you can employ the use of Google AdWords for an effective targeted marketing campaign. TPP Internet & Hot Goanna, a Google AdWords Qualified Company, have recently partnered to assist small businesses like your’s get online and attract the right type of customer to you. Stay tuned for more information!

In the same way that we are committed to our customers, we are committed to our environment. In the past few months, we have taken important steps to ensure that we, as a company, act responsibly toward our planet.
Having switched to green power, we now use 100% renewable energy in our headquarters. We also introduced “Green Office” guidelines to our staff, reinforcing the fact that everyone can make a difference – even with little actions like switching off electronic devices before leaving the office, and recycling and reusing paper.
In the course of introducing new hosting products, we focused on using a new server technology called virtualisation, which ensures that less energy is used to run a server. Using virtualised machine infrastructure reduces energy consumption by allowing us to run our applications on fewer physical servers, which in turn reduces our power and cooling requirements by up to 84%. Consolidating 30 physical servers into 30 Dedicated Hosting accounts running on one server would save over 100,000 kWh per year. That’s as much energy as is consumed on average by 10 houses! Using virtualised machines therefore means using resources for environmentally friendly computing.
These are some of the initiatives that we at TPP Internet have introduced to do our bit in the global challenge to help protect our environment. We will continue to look at opportunities to improve our carbon footprint and act as responsible citizens of the Global Village.

Last year saw the introduction of .eu for the European Union; late 2007 will see another regional domain name launched: .asia. This type of domain names is different from the usual country code domain names like .au – its audiences span an entire region.
The new domain space is being created to serve the region as a whole, including businesses that operate in many countries in Asia. These businesses can register their company names (e.g. tppinternet.asia), events that are specific to the region (e.g. The Asian Games) or even customised versions and perspectives of international media (e.g. Asia Edition of the Wall Street Journal)
Currently the dates and exact detail of the .asia domain name are not finalised but the initial offering of a Sunrise period is expected to commence late 2007.
TPP Internet will be offering .asia domains to our customers. We will provide updated information as it becomes available on how to participate in the Sunrise period as well as the final open registrations once the registry is in full swing.
Subscribe to our .asia email list and make sure you will receive the news on .asia as soon as it hits our desk!
Download the official .asia Sunrise brochure here!
