4 December 2007 – Planned Outage on control.tppinternet.net.au

We will be conducting planned server maintenance and hardware upgrades on control.tppinternet.net.au between 6pm Tuesday 4th December and 6am Wednesday 5th December 2007.

During this period, login and FTP access to the server will be disabled. All mail will be spooled to our secondary mail server and will be delivered at the completion of the maintenance.

Most websites will continue to resolve for the majority of the maintenance, however there may short periods of time (approximately 30 minutes) where some websites are unavailable. Websites hosted on the server with dedicated IP addresses will experience an extended outage of approximately 3 hours during this upgrade period.

This planned maintenance will upgrade our server hardware to provide a more stable and robust hosting platform; we thank you for your patience during this time.

Should you have any questions please contact your account manager on 1300 665 491, email partners@tppinternet.com.

TPP Internet Hosting Infrastructure Upgrade

A few weeks ago we contacted resellers about plans to upgrade the TPP hosting platform. This was in response to outages that had occurred at the time. Since then, we have been working hard to implement the changes and a few have already taken place that will improve reliability.

In the lead up to the Christmas break, the biggest changes will start to occur, including the change to new IP backhaul providers, an improved and more redundant network infrastructure, and the re-location of our servers.

In the coming weeks we will provide resellers with the exact timing details and information on any outages that will occur. Be assured that we will do our best to make sure these have minimal impact to you and your customers. Please note that we will be updating this System Status page (http://status.tppinternet.com.au) on a regular basis, so please check back here for further information about the upgrade.

Should you have any questions, please contact us on 1300 665 491 or email partners@tppinternet.com.

We thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards
Chris Collinge
Director

14 November 2007 - Outage on control.tppinternet.net.au

On 14 November 2007 our server monitoring system detected a problem with 2 PHP based websites that are hosted on control.tppinternet.net.au.

Upon receiving this notification, we took steps to isolate the problem, which included removing internet connectivity to the server for some of the duration of the process.

During this period all email was successfully spooled to our secondary mail infrastructure and then delivered back to the primary server.

All services were restored at 3:45pm Wednesday 14 November 2007.

We apologise for loss of connectivity and flow on effect that this has caused.

Are You a Google AdWords Virgin?
Or are you divorced from Google? You might be engaged to Google or even married to Google. What am I talking about? Well, all online business sites in Australia fall into 4 categories:
  1. Never used Google AdWords (Virgins)
  2. Have tried AdWords and failed (Divorced)
  3. Currently using AdWords, probably self managed, but not convinced it is working (Engaged) or
  4. Client of a good PPC Management Company and constantly improving sales with Google AdWords (Married).
I would like to discuss briefly the pros and cons of each level of commitment you make to your online sales presence. Let us presume that, just like in life, it is best to be married to a good partner. I think the vast majority of us agree with this. It is no different in the world of online commerce. If you are not doing well on Google, then you are simply loosing sales to your competitors. That’s a fact.
Married? Those that are happily married have got the advantage. They already know what they have done and how it is performed, and what they need to do to continue to prosper. A good Pay Per Click (PPC) campaign, a well researched web site that sells at good conversion rates, and a competent expert running the operation.
Divorced? Those that are divorced have suffered from poor AdWords campaigns with little or no knowledge of what they had to do. Plus, their web site, product, performance, perception and price did not match the market. Many divorce Google blaming Google for their own shortcomings. Sounds much like many marriage break-ups in real life! However, many of us (me included) go round a second time, and learn from our mistakes. You can do this online with AdWords a second time. Just get some expert advice in the first instance before you buy another ring for another try.
Virgins? Don’t worry, its not impossible. You don’t have to be alone all your life. With the right advice and coaching, you can find the perfect partner. They are out there and all you have to do is meet them under the right circumstances. We know where to find your perfect match to get you on the path to a great life. In fact, you will love them when you first meet them. All you need is a match making service. Go to Google and type in AdWords Professionals (Search Australia) and look for a company to match you up with the search campaign of your dreams for your web site business.
Currently engaged? Are you making the right long term commitment? Do you really know that you are doing the right thing? Will a better offer come your way? Are there doubts in your mind? Are there some bad habits that your beloved has that you think you can change, given enough time? Before you decide on a wedding date, get a second opinion. Now I don’t use pre-nuptial agreements, but I think a wise person should get a health check on their relationship and compare what they have. It’s never too late to change your mind. Find the best partner you can.
Google Search and how well your business does online is just like life. Those that have a fantastic partner, who cares about them and works with them to ensure the marriage works, always come out on top. It’s a happy, transparent relationship based on mutual trust and respect.Who are you going to trust with your online life? The choice is simple, you know Google is going to be your partner. You only have to work out who is going to walk you up the aisle.

DNS Hosting for FootPrint Customers

Traditionally, it was required that to use our FootPrint Hosting products, the respective domains had to be registered with TPP Internet in order to receive DNS hosting on the domain name.

The latest upgrade to our hosting system now allows FootPrint users to have the domain name with another registrar as well as using TPP Internet name servers to host the DNS. To order DNS for a domain name that has been configured in a FootPrint account, users need to log into the OMS and order DNS in the “My Hosting” area for the relevant domain name.

Enter the domain name for which DNS is required:

Choose the top option “DNS Hosting”:

Once your proceed through the order, you are able to manage the zone file. Go to “Manage My Domains”; search for the domain name, then “edit dns zone” to arrive at the DNS control panel shown below.

New Process for Transfer of Legal Ownership (TLO)

Over the last few months, we have been working on simplifying and improving the way Transfer of Legal Ownership (TLO’s) will be processed. These are the changes at a glance:

  • TLO’s are now submitted via the Online Management System (OMS). Pending transfers can be monitored via OMS, and no manual application form is required anymore – applications are now submitted using an online form. Once the application has been submitted, we will send you an email, explaining how to complete the process, and provide you with a link to the required supporting documentation (.au – letter of authority & stat dec / gTLD – letter of authority).
  • The policy information is now checked at the time of submission to expedite the application process and prevent delays attempting to clarify details. Multiple domains can be entered at one time, providing the current registrant for each and the gaining registrant for each is the same. Different domain spaces need to be entered separately. For example, .au domains can be grouped together, but cannot be entered with a gTLD domain (supported for .au, gTLD’s and .nz domains only).
  • Pricing for TLO’s has been significantly reduced. You now pay a $60 transfer fee (was $120.00), and the mandatory 2 year renewal of .au domains will be available at the reseller rate.
  • You no longer need to renew gTLD domains or .nz upon Transfer of Legal Ownership
  • Processing time from the point that supporting documentation has been received has been reduced as well.

If you have any questions regarding these new processes, please contact your Account Manager on 1300 665 491.
