We have updated our API to support a number of new pieces of functionality. The new 2.6 version is available as of Wednesday 8th August in both our production systems and our test systems.
Name Suggestion Tool
In this new version we have added a new tool that suggests meaningful alternative domain names.
For example, a search for food.com would also show results like:
- bestfoodonline.net
- bestfoodonline.org
- bestmeal.net
- caribbeanfood.org
- choicefood.net
- choicefood.org
- cityfood.org
- creativefood.org
- fabulousfood.org
- favoritefood.org
So, as can be seen, the tool is context sensitive and can greatly assist end users in choosing a new domain name that relates to their topic or business.
Initially the service is available for gTLD domain names only (.com, .net, .org, .biz, .info), support for .au, .nz and others will follow in the next update to our API.
Orders Status
Until now, API users needed to submit an order (e.g. a registration) and then wait for an email response to confirm that the transaction was a success. With our upgraded API, connected systems can now poll our system via OrderStatus request and confirm the status of an order.
The system will continue to send the response codes per email as well, but the same information is now available via the API directly.
In a similar way, domain name transfers that are entered into our system can also be polled to find out the current status.
Backward Compatibility
The update is fully compatible with previous versions. Customers who have written code against the former API version can simply continue to use that code with the new version.
New Documentation
Version 2.6 of the API documentation is available from our web site.
General Information
TPP Internet’s HTTP Post API is an interface that allows our Reseller clients to connect directly to our ordering and registrar system. Using this tool, you are now able to perform simple tasks – like automated domain name availability checks – as well as processing orders, delegations, renewals and transactions on the domain names under your management.
